Fiction
Character descriptions (gender, nationality, age, personality, physical description, psychological attributes, character background as much as is revealed in the text, etc.) plus any obvious vocal characteristics – accent, voice quality, etc.
Chapter synopsis, including a list of which characters speak in each chapter
Overarching description of the whole novel, with any general things to watch out for (eg.: you don’t know that Jake is actually a girl until chapter 15, etc.)
A list of any made-up words that you may want to ask the author how to pronounce
Non-Fiction – Rate of $35/actual hour will vary according to the book and what you want, but can include:
Research on pronunciation of industry-specific terminology
Chapter or section synopses
Overall description of the book, including my best description of the character of the narrator
