Coaches Directory
Coaches who specialize in business topics and audiobook performance are listed on this page. For help learning accents and dialects, check out the many resources linked in Where/how can I learn accents and dialects?, as well as the accent and dialect coaches and classes listed in the Welcome Center.
You’ll want to research coach(es) because:
- Your choice of coach(es) depends on your background, needs, and aspirations at the time.
- Coach personalities and coaching styles differ, and you’ll connect better with some coaches than others.
- You will want different types of coaching throughout your career.
Here are 3 articles to get you started:
- I wrote the article 10 questions to ask coaches and demo producers.
- Casting director and award-winning narrator Tanya Eby offers tips for researching coaches in this article.
- In this article, Grammy-winning producer and director Paul Alan Ruben discusses 7 things narrators should expect from a coach.
As I explain in Thoughts About Advice in Narrator Groups, you need to be careful about the advice you give and take in social media groups.
I also suggest that you listen to and/or read previous interviews with your prospective coach(es) to get a sense of them and their work. While you’ll find many podcasts and YouTube playlists linked on the Welcome Center page, these resources are good places to start:
- Audiobook Narration for Beginners podcast
- Audiobook Speakeasy podcast
- Narrator’s Cup of Joe video series
- The Nomad Narrator podcast
- Tanya Eby’s Substack articles about recommended coaches:
